Rules and help

How to play Numbers

Press Start. A number appears on the card. A bar under it shows how long the look lasts, and runs out as the number hides. Type it back with the keys, or with the number keys on your keyboard. The answer is taken as soon as you have typed every digit. Enter sends a shorter number. Get it right and the next number is new, and one digit longer. The first wrong number ends the run. Your score is the longest number you recalled, counted in digits.

The number

Each digit is from 0 to 9. A zero can come first, and it still counts. The first number is one digit. The longest is twenty. Recalling a twenty-digit number ends the run.

Look

Brief, Steady, and Unhurried set how long the number stays up. A longer number stays up a little longer, and the bar matches that time. Changing the look during a run ends it. Press Start when you are ready to look again.

Score

Score is the longest number you have typed correctly in this run. Recalling a six-digit number scores 6. Best updates as soon as you pass your longest score, and it stays even if you then press New game. Last is the score from the previous run that ended.

A miss

The card shows the number you needed and the one you typed. A wrong digit is a miss. Enter before every digit is in is a miss too. Enter does nothing until you have typed at least one digit.

Using this game

Press Start and look. Then type the number. It is taken on the last digit. New game ends the run and waits. If you leave this tab while the number is up, it pauses, and the same number is shown again when you come back. If you leave between numbers, the next one is shown when you return. Your turn waits if you leave while it is yours. Your best score stays on this device.

Tips

  • Say the digits quietly, in small groups, while they are still on the card.
  • A zero at the front is part of the number. Type it.
  • The bar under the number is the time left to look.
  • The last digit sends the answer. Enter sends a shorter try, and that ends the run.
  • Unhurried leaves the number up longer. It is the same game, with more time to look.

Playing on a phone or tablet

Tap the keys after the number hides. The answer is taken on the last digit. Start, New game, and look stay above the card.
