How to play Dice Poker
Each game has thirteen scoring categories. On your turn, roll five dice up to three times. After each roll, you may hold any dice and re-roll the rest. After one to three rolls, you must enter a score in one category; each category is used once per game.
Upper section
Ones through Sixes: score the sum of dice showing that number. If the upper total reaches 63 or more, you receive a 35-point bonus.
Lower section
- Three of a kind / Four of a kind: Sum of all dice if you have at least three or four matching.
- Full house: Three of one number and two of another scores 25.
- Small straight: Four in a row scores 30.
- Large straight: Five in a row scores 40.
- Five of a kind: All five dice the same scores 50.
- Chance: Any combination—sum of all dice.
Scoring zeros
If a category does not fit, you may enter zero there—sometimes that is the best strategy.
Tips
- Aim for the upper bonus early by focusing on Ones and Sixes when rolls cooperate.
- Save the five-of-a-kind category until late unless you roll it naturally.
- Small straight is often easier than large straight; do not waste a good roll on Chance too early.
