Grids and boards
Minesweeper asks you to clear a field without opening a mine. A number tells you how many mines touch that square, and you can flag a square you trust. There are three sizes of board. Sudoku is the nine-by-nine grid: each row, each column, and each box holds the digits 1 to 9 once. Pipe Connect gives you time to lay tiles so a flow can run from the inlet to the outlet without spilling.
Peg Solitaire uses the English cross: 33 holes, every one filled except the center. A peg jumps straight up, down, left, or right over one neighbor into an empty hole, and the peg you jumped is removed. One peg left, in any hole, clears the board. Leaving that peg in the center is the classic finish.
Tic Tac Toe and Four in a Row are the short contests, both against Alden, the house player. In Tic Tac Toe you want three crosses in a line before he has three rings. In Four in a Row you drop discs and try to line up four before he does. Neither game is played against another person on this site.
A quiet pace
You can leave a puzzle and come back from its address. There is no account. If you want something that moves, the arcade games are the faster set. The card games are the patience layouts.
