How to play Pipe Connect
Build a continuous pipe path from the inlet (marked In) to the outlet (marked Out). Their spots change each game. Pieces arrive from a queue on the side—place the highlighted next piece by tapping an empty square. You may overwrite a square that is not yet filled, including while the liquid is already moving.
The countdown
After the board appears, a timer counts down. When it reaches zero the flow begins automatically. Tap Start flow earlier if your path is ready—you can keep placing tiles ahead of the flow.
How the flow works
- Liquid moves one tile at a time through openings that line up.
- A cross continues straight when it can; otherwise it takes the remaining open branch.
- You win when the flow enters the outlet through its opening.
- You lose if the flow hits an empty square, a mismatched opening, or the edge of the board.
Scoring
Each filled pipe tile scores points. Reaching the outlet adds a bonus.
Difficulty
Easy keeps In and Out close and lined up on a small grid. Medium spreads them out. Hard puts them far apart on a tall board with a shorter countdown.
Tips
- Sketch a spine from inlet toward outlet first; decorate branches only if the queue forces them.
- Watch the next two preview pieces—crosses are scarce rescue tools on Hard.
- Replace a wrong corner early; once flow enters a tile you cannot fix it.
- On Easy, use the longer countdown to verify every joint before starting the flow yourself.
Playing on a phone or tablet
Tap an empty square to place the next pipe. Scroll the board sideways on small screens if needed. Use Start flow when you are ready.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Pipe Connect based on a commercial game?
- It follows the familiar public idea of laying pipe tiles ahead of a flowing liquid. Name, rules text, and artwork here are original to Play Solo.
- Can I replace a pipe after placing it?
- Yes, until that square has been filled by the flow. The piece you replace is discarded; your next queue piece takes its place.
- Do I have to use every tile?
- No. Only the path the liquid travels matters for winning.
- Can I change a tile after placing it?
- Yes, until the liquid reaches it. After a cell fills, it is locked.
- What happens when the countdown hits zero?
- Flow starts automatically from the inlet with whatever pipes you have placed.
