How to play Spider Solitaire
Remove all cards by building complete sequences from King down to Ace in the same suit. A completed sequence is removed automatically.
Dealing
At the start, 54 cards are dealt to ten columns (the first four columns have six cards; the rest have five). Only the top card of each column is face up. The remaining 50 cards stay in the stock.
Moves
- Place a card (or a run) on any card that is exactly one rank higher, whatever its suit.
- Only a run of cards in the same suit and descending order can be moved together.
- Empty columns accept any card or run.
- When no useful moves remain, deal one new face-up card onto every column from the stock. Every column must hold at least one card before you can deal.
Winning
Clear all eight King-to-Ace sequences from the tableau.
Scoring (optional)
With scoring on you start at 500 points, lose one point per move and gain 100 points for every completed run.
Tips
- Create empty columns—they are essential for rearranging long stacks.
- Expose face-down cards early.
- Avoid dealing from the stock until you have made useful moves; each deal adds ten cards at once.
Playing on a phone or tablet
Drag a run with your finger, or tap it and tap a destination. Tap the stock to deal a row when you are stuck.
