Rules and help
Snake is a simple arcade game: eat, grow, survive. There is no wrap-around on this board — edges are solid walls.
How to play
- Board. 15 cells wide by 11 tall. Hitting a wall or your own body ends the run.
- Move. Arrow keys, WASD, or on-screen controls. You cannot reverse directly into yourself in one step.
- Food. Each berry adds length and +10 to the score. A new berry appears on an empty cell.
- Speed. Modes: Relaxed (slower start), Classic, and Quick (faster start). Every 5 berries the tick rate steps up until that mode’s floor speed.
- Pause. Pause to take a break; resume from the same position.
- Win condition. There is no fixed “clear” — play for a high score and long survival. Filling the board is theoretically possible but rare; most runs end on a wall or tail bite.
- Win. You win if you fill every cell; most runs end on a wall or the tail. There is no separate timed clear for a normal run.
Tips
- Hug the edges early only if you leave an escape lane; trapping yourself in a corridor is the usual late-game death.
- When the snake is long, plan two turns ahead so the head never cuts off the only path the tail is about to vacate.
- Relaxed is best for learning patterns; switch to Classic or Quick once you can loop without panic.
- After every fifth berry the game speeds up — clear space before that bite if the board is already tight.
- Pause is allowed; use it if a notification breaks your rhythm rather than forcing a bad turn.
