Chuck-a-Luck

Chuck a luck is the birdcage dice game, played with three dice. Bet play credits on a number from 1 to 6. Each matching die pays 1 to 1, so two matches pay 2 to 1 and three pay 3 to 1. An optional bet on any triple pays 30 to 1. One roll settles every chip. Stakes are play credits only, never real money.

Play money only No real money, no prizes, and no cash-out. Ʉ marks play credits with no cash value. These games are for practice and entertainment.

Rules and help

How to play

Choose a chip, tap a number from 1 to 6 or Any triple, then roll. Three dice settle every bet. In chuck a luck there is nothing to decide after the roll.

A number

  • One matching die pays 1 to 1. A 10Ʉ bet returns 20Ʉ.
  • Two matching dice pay 2 to 1. A 10Ʉ bet returns 30Ʉ.
  • Three matching dice pay 3 to 1. A 10Ʉ bet returns 40Ʉ.

If none of the dice show your number, that bet loses. A winning number is still paid when another number on the same roll loses.

Any triple

Any triple wins when all three dice match, from 1-1-1 through 6-6-6. It pays 30 to 1. A 10Ʉ bet returns 310Ʉ. A number bet on that face still pays 3 to 1. The two bets are separate.

Chips and limits

Chips are 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 play credits. The most on one number is 5,000. The most on Any triple is 500. Undo lifts the last chip. Clear takes every chip back. Rebet repeats the bets from the previous roll. Double matches what is already down, when the limits and your balance allow it.

How often a number shows

Each die shows 1 through 6 with equal chance, so there are 216 possible rolls. A chosen number appears once on 75 of them, twice on 15, and three times on 1. It is missing on the other 125. All three dice match on 6 of the 216 rolls.

Tips

  • A number wins on 91 of 216 rolls. One credit on that number, on every roll, returns 199. The other 17 stay with the house.
  • Any triple wins on 6 of 216 rolls. A price that matched that count would be 35 to 1. This table pays 30 to 1, so one credit returns 186 over those rolls.
  • The same stake on all six numbers breaks even only when the three dice differ. A pair or a triple pays less than the six stakes.
  • Use Undo before the roll if a chip lands on the wrong number.

Playing on a phone or tablet

Choose a chip, tap a number or Any triple, then Roll. The three dice, the bets, and the buttons stay in place from one roll to the next.

Is this real-money gambling?
No. Wagers use play credits (Ʉ) stored on your device. You cannot deposit, win cash, or withdraw.
How does a chuck a luck number bet pay?

What does Any triple pay?
