Space Word Search

Space Word Search is the classroom version of looking up: planets, rocks in orbit, and the words of a launch, without a film franchise attached. The names are the ordinary ones from a science book. Search the letter square for each. Lines are straight, and one square can serve two words. Switch puzzles here when you want a fresh grid. This browser stores how far you got.

Rules and help

Planets, orbits, and the words of a launch, taken from ordinary science vocabulary.

How to play

In these puzzles, words may run across, down, or on a diagonal, and they may read forward or backward.

  • Goal. Find every word on the list. Words are straight lines and may share letters.
  • Drag. Press the first or last letter and drag to the other end. The highlight snaps to the nearest straight direction.
  • Tap. Tap the start letter, then the end letter. The same snap applies.
  • A miss. If those letters are not a listed word, the line clears. Nothing is deducted.
  • Found. A match stays marked on the grid, and that word is crossed off the list.
  • The list. Hide word list leaves the found count on screen. That choice applies to every word search and stays in this browser.
  • Another puzzle. New puzzle, Previous, and Next stay on this page. Each grid keeps its own progress here.
  • Print. Printing this page shows the grid and the full word list, without the site header.
  • Done. The puzzle is complete when every word has been found. The banner appears once.

Tips

  • Planet names are a fixed set. Once Mars or Venus is marked, scan for the next one in the same line of letters.
  • A letter you have already marked can still belong to a second word.
  • Hide the list when you want a harder look. The found count stays either way.

Playing on a phone or tablet

Drag from one end of a word to the other. The page does not scroll while your finger is on the grid. You can also tap the first letter and then the last.
